Despite the missed chances, Reynolds who turns 81 this February has continued with his acting career in movies like the remake of his 1974 hit ‘The Longest Yard’ in 2005.
The adorable orphan from Family Affair had a difficult time coping with his friend’s death when he grew up and fell into an alcohol and drug addiction problem in his late 20’s. Whitaker was forced to quit his acting career to focus on his health and overcoming the dangerous addiction and after struggling for more than 5 year, he finally won the battle. At 56-years-old, Whitaker is now completely clean and has been sober for the past two decades. Knowing the dangerous consequence of drug abuse, Whitaker has made it his mission to help as many people as he can to overcome addiction by working as a drug and alcohol counselor for the past 14 years.
Hopkins has since then been knighted by the British Empire in 1993. He has been a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2000. In 2006 he was awarded the Golden Globe’s Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. Recently he has starred in the highly acclaimed American science fiction Western thriller Westworld as one of the recurring characters of Season 1.
