Hellwig retired from wrestling completely in the year 1998. He did not return to wrestling at all except for one last match that was held in Spain in the year 2008. For the rest of his life, The Ultimate Warrior spent his time pursuing a public speaking career path. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April 2014, made one last appearance on Raw, and also made an appearance at WrestleMania XXX, but sadly, a mere three days after being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Hellwig passed away.
