Jessica Lange has been acting for almost 40 years, and during this time she has earned two Academy Awards, five Golden Globes, and three Emmys. Jessica originally gained attention in the 1976 remake of King Kong, for which she earned her first Golden Globe. In 1982, she won her first Academy Award for Tootsie. More recently, she has starred in 2012’s The Vow and 2014’s The Gambler, proving that she has no intentions of going anywhere! In addition to acting, Jessica is a photographer who’s published two works in 2008 and 2010. She’s also known for being her humanitarian work, and is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF specializing in the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Congo and Russia. She has three children, including a Romanian child she fostered in the early 1990s.
Best known for her role as the titular character in the 1976 adaption of Stephen King’s Carrie, Sissy Spacek is one of the most beloved American actresses of the 1970s. She earned an Academy Award nomination for Carrie, and won the award in 1980 for playing country music singer Loretta Lynn in the film Coal Miner’s Daughter. She also earned a Grammy nomination for the song of the same name on the film’s soundtrack, and she received Academy Award nominations for 1982’s Missing, 1984’s The River, and 1986’s Crimes of the Heart. Sissy still acts to this day, and recently appeared in the television series Bloodline. Despite having a well-publicized career that spans almost 50 years, she’s done remarkably well at maintaining a private personal life. It probably helps that she spends much of her time on her 300-acre farm in Virginia!
A French actress, Isabelle Adjani is predominately known for the 1975 film The Story of Adele H., for which she earned an Academy Award nomination. She was only 19 at the time, but the role garnered her international recognition and numerous invitations to come to Hollywood. She turned down most of the offers, but she did star in the 1978 crime thriller The Driver.Later in her career, the 1981 film Possession earned her Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival, and 1988’s Camille Claudel earned her Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival. Isabelle speaks four languages fluently, and has appeared in films speaking French, English, Italian and German. She hasn’t yet retired from acting, and her most recent appearance was in a French film called Sous les jupes des filles.
Born in 1966, Robin Gayle Wright is the iconic American actress and director known worldwide for her starring role in the 1987 film The Princess Bride. She originally gained recognition for starring on the soap opera Santa Barbara from 1984 to 1988, and more recently, she’s been starring in the Netflix series House of Cards. Robin has won a Golden Globe for the role, giving her the honor of being the first actress to ever win a Golden Globe for a web series. Robin is also slated to appear in the 2017 DC superhero film Wonder Woman and the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. She’s also an active humanitarian, and has been actively advocating for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2015, she narrated and produced a documentary called “When Elephants Fight” about the subject.
Born in 1953 to a secretary and a train conductor, Mary Steenburgen grew up about as far from Hollywood as you can get. However, that hasn’t affected her career one bit! In 1980, Mary won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for the film Melvin and Howard. She continued to show off her acting chops with films such as 1989’s Parenthood and 1990’s Back to the Future Part III. More recently, she appeared in 2003’s Elf, 2008’s Step Brothers, and 2011’s The Help. Modern audiences still love her, and appearances on television series such as Justified and The Last Man on Earth have only helped. Mary is also an active humanitarian involved in issues ranging from human rights to the environment, and she’s been married to actor Ted Danson since 1995. The couple is currently living in the Los Angeles area.
