Brooke Shields is the ultimate 80s icon. Best known for her work in such films as The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love, Brooke Shields broke out and became a star in these great 80s films. Then, in the late 80s, she took a break from acting to attend Princeton University and get a degree in French Literature.
Since then, she has resumed acting in television series such as Suddenly Susan, Lipstick Jungle, and The Middle. Shields is still going strong!
Elisabeth Shue was every 80’s teen’s dream girl. Appearing in 80’s classics like Adventures in Babysitting, The Karate Kid, and of course, Back to the Future II & III. Proving she’s even more talented than she is beautiful, Shue was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Sera in 1995’s Leaving Las Vegas.
Nowadays, Shue’s still going strong as an actress. She was a cast regular opposite Ted Danson on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and is set to appear in 2017’s Battle of the Sexes alongside Steve Carell and Emma Stone.
Who can forget the beautiful Barbara Lynn Klein AKA Barbi Benton? She started off as a model at the young age of 16, to help raise money for her family. One thing led to another, and Barbi got a steady gig as co-host of the Playboy show, Playboy After Dark. That was when her relationship with Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner first started.
Benton became a household name and lived in Hefner’s lavish mansion for seven years. As can be expected, she graced the cover of Playboy magazine four times. She also delved into acting, and appeared on several TV shows and films, including the popular Fantasy Island. More recently, Benton made headlines when her husband, Millionaire Aspen developer George Gradow went to prison for tax fraud.
The 80s Beauty’s career began with the horror movie The Fury. Later on, she starred in Blade Runner that was a real classic. She was a popular by 1984 after starring in Splash alongside Tom Hanks. Other movies that decade included Steel Magnolias, High Spirits, and Walls street.
Today, she has tried to revamp her career. However, she is still in the process of doing so with the Kill Bill Series among others.
Didn’t you LOVE Debbie Gibson back in the day? Towards the tail end of the 1980’s, Debbie Gibson became the youngest artist ever to write, produce, and perform a Number 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track that got her there was “Foolish Beat”!
Gibson continued to write music and perform into the 2000’s, though in 2014 she announced that she was battling Lyme disease.
