Selleck’s father Robert Selleck plays Magnum’s grandfather on Magnum P.I.
Tom Selleck’s unit was activated for the Watts riots in Los Angeles in 1965. He was a part of the California Army National Guard.
For the last episode of Magnum P.I. Selleck received a $350K bonus, which he spent entirely in gifts and bonuses for the rest of the cast.

Sophia Loren used to be Selleck’s neighbor in California. His wife had given him permission to have a liaison with her, but only under very precise circumstances, Selleck explained “If I was on my way to Home Depot and she was out on the driveway in her bathrobe and she said exactly these words: ‘Thomaso, would you like a cappucino?’ I could go in.” That unfortunately never happened.
