It’s been 28 years since the last episode of Magnum P.I. aired, and we are still secretly hoping it will come back. Until that happens, here’s everything you didn’t know about the hit show.
On the show, Magnum was punched by Higgins, T.C., and Rick. He never hit any of them back.
Orson Welles provided the off-screen voice of Robin Masters, Magnum’s homeowner, and notorious playboy.
In order to accommodate Tom Selleck’s 6’4” height, the Ferrari he drove on the show had to be permanently modified. Padding had to be removed, and the seats had to be moved just so Selleck could fit. The producers initially wanted Magnum’s character to be driving a Porsche, but the company refused to make the necessary changes to their car.
Manetti (Rick) hated water. During his time on the show, his main goal was to avoid water. Not a very easy task in Hawaii.
The Indiana Jones role was originally offered to Tom Selleck, who had to turn it down after CBS refused to give him time off from Magnum, P.I.
