Peter Gallagher had a long and successful career before playing Deputy Chief William Dodd, beginning in 2014, on “Law&Order: Special Victims Unit.” When he left the show in 2016, his career only continued to grow. In 2016, he appeared on TV series and in a TV movie. Less known is Gallagher also has appeared on Broadway. In 2015, he played Oscar in the Broadway production of “On the Twentieth Century.”
Jeffrey Orbach played the popular, witty Detective Lennie Briscoe from 1991-2004. He was nominated for 3 primetime Emmy awards for his performance. Unfortunately, in 2004, Orbach lost his 10 year battle to prostate cancer. However, along with his portrayal of Detective Briscoe, he is remembered for his role of Jack Houseman in “Dirty Dancing,” and voice acting for Lumiere in “Beauty and the Beast.” He was also a published author, including a book of love poems he wrote to his wife titled “Remember How I Love You: Love Letters from an Extraordinary Marriage.”
Wong left the show after season 12, however, returned to reprise his role as Dr. George Huang in season 13-15. Huang tends to be type-casted and has played a doctor in many other ventures, including TV series “Awake,” and “Nurse Jackie” and feature film “Jurassic World.” However, in 2016, he appeared as the super villain Hugo Strange in the TV series “Gotham.” Also in 2016, he played the enigmatic role of Whiterose on USA’s “Mr. Robot.”
Dean Winters was introduced in the first season of “Law&Order: Special Victims Unit.” However, he left after that season, but returned in 2012 and 2013. During his hiatus from the show, he played the role as Ryan O’Reily on the HBO prison drama, “Oz.“ Most recently, in 2016, he appeared in 3 episodes, alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, in the HBO TV series “Divorce.” However, to some he may be most recognizable as the “Mayhem” character in recent Allstate Insurance commercials.
Captain Donald Cragen appeared on the original “Law&Order” from 1990-2004, as well as “SVU” from 1999-2014. Florek is credited for directing 3 episodes of “Law&Order,” in the 90s. He returned for one episode of “SVU,” in 2015’s “Perverted Justice.” Captain Cragen kept the team in check and made sure no stone went unturned. After leaving the show, in 2015, Florek appeared in the TV Movie “Captain Blackout,” as well as the TV series “Under the Dome.”
