Celebrities From the Golden Age of Hollywood; Where Are They Now?

#31. John Goodman

John Goodman is most famous as a TV dad, thanks to his role on Roseanne in the late 80s and the 90s. He is also a talented character actor, choosing roles in offbeat movies like O Brother Where Art Thou, The Big Lebowski, and Barton Fink. Goodman has been outspoken about addiction recovery; he has been sober since 2007. These days, he resides in New Orleans, which has been the setting of some of his recent acting gigs.

#32. Annie Lennox

Easily the baddest chick of MTV’s early years, Annie Lennox still wears her hair as short as she did during her days with the Eurythmics. Because of her work as a social activist, Lennox was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2011. She has worked with UNESCO, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and other organizations to draw attention to various issues, most notably HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in South Africa.

#33. Janet Jackson

And speaking of strong women from the days when MTV was all about music videos, Janet Jackson reinvented her image and musical style several times in the 80s and 90s. Perhaps she is best remembered for the thumping, rhythmically complex sound of her 1986 album Control. She is the baby of the Jackson family, the youngest of ten children, and she and her husband Wissam Al-Mana welcomed their son Eissa in early 2017.

#34. Elton John

Sir Elton John has traded in his over-the-top stage costumes for brightly colored suit jackets and tinted glasses. At age 69, maybe his days of duck costumes and sky-high platform boots are behind him, but he is still a prolific songwriter. In 2014, he married his husband David Furnish, almost as soon as same-sex marriage became legal in the United Kingdom. John and Furnish have been together since 1993, and they have two sons.

#35. Bill Nye

Bill Nye “the Science Guy” instilled a love of science in countless children through his TV show in the 90s. Since his TV show ended, he has remained in the public eye, speaking about science and science education. He has been filming a new show, set to debut on Netflix in 2017, devoted to debunking myths and correcting misconceptions about scientific topics. He is the CEO of the Planetary Society and is a serious dancer, having competed on Dancing with the Stars.
