Meanwhile, although twins with different skin tones are rare, the Normans are, of course, not alone. In April 2017 some very special twin girls from Illinois celebrated their first birthday. Kalani and Jarani Dean are twins with a black father and a white mother. And guess what?
They too came out with different skin tones. At first, the Deans were so stunned that they thought Kalani’s pale skin might have been caused by albinism. This wasn’t the case, however, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with their beautiful girls.
Kalani even has baby blues – a stark contrast to her sister’s brown eyes. And in January 2017 their mother, Whitney Meyer, told People magazine that she regards her daughters as nothing but “miracle babies.”
In fact, the appearance of her girls made her question a wider issue. She said her girls demonstrated “why racism shouldn’t exist.” After all, they are a perfect example of the color of someone’s skin meaning nothing, because genetically her girls are practically the same.
These two sets of twins in fact remind us that we should never judge a book by its cover. We all have our own unique stories, even if these guys can probably dine out on theirs forever.
